Emergency Lighting, Inspection, Testing and Certification.

British Standard BS 5266: Part 8, 2004 (BS EN 50172: 2004) –Emergency Lighting Systems
Emergency lighting is required to be fully tested every year.

Testing:-

  1. Battery capacity.
  2. Charging system.
  3. Lamps maintained and in working order.
  4. Log book maintained and up to date, if not, new log book issued.
  5. Lumen level output measured and recorded.

Test Results
Having carried out testing, the results are presented in a high quality report which includes the following documentation: -

  • Asset Register (inventory of all items tested, together with locations)
  • Test Data (results of tests carried out on all luminaires)
  • Instructions to client regarding detailing interim testing requirements and method of achieving this.
  • Log Book (document for client to record all interim routine tests and any remedial actions required and subsequently taken)
